Dadeville’s Annual Boat Parade Returns This Summer: A Lake Martin Tradition

Mark your calendars, Lake Martin enthusiasts! The Dadeville Chamber of Commerce has announced that the beloved Annual Independence Day Boat Parade will return to Lake Martin on Saturday, July 5th, 2025. This cherished summer tradition draws hundreds of decorated boats and thousands of spectators to the northern shores of the lake each year.

A Floating Celebration

The parade kicks off at 2 PM from Smith’s Landing, with participating boats making their way along a scenic 5-mile route through some of Lake Martin’s most picturesque coves. Boat owners go all out decorating their vessels with patriotic themes, elaborate displays, and creative interpretations of Americana. Last year’s winner, a pontoon boat transformed into a replica of the Statue of Liberty complete with sparklers, set the bar high for this year’s competitors.

What to Expect

Spectators can watch from various vantage points along the shore, with the best viewing areas located at:

  • Kowaliga Restaurant’s waterfront deck
  • Still Waters Resort marina
  • The public boat ramp near downtown Dadeville
  • Any accessible shoreline along the parade route

Local restaurants and vendors will be set up along the waterfront offering food, beverages, and festive merchandise. The Dadeville Lions Club will be grilling burgers and hot dogs with proceeds benefiting local youth programs.

Registration Details

Boat owners interested in participating can register at Dadeville City Hall through June 28th. Entry is free, but participants are encouraged to donate to the Tallapoosa County Veterans Fund. Awards will be given in categories including Best Overall, Most Patriotic, Most Creative, and Best Youth Entry.

Evening Fireworks

The celebration doesn’t end with the parade. As darkness falls over Lake Martin, a spectacular fireworks display will light up the sky at approximately 9 PM, visible from most points around the northern end of the lake. Boaters are encouraged to anchor safely offshore for the best views, while landlubbers can enjoy the show from Dadeville’s downtown waterfront.

Supporting Local Waters

This year’s event partners with the Lake Martin Resource Association to promote water safety and lake conservation. Educational booths will be set up throughout the day, and volunteers will distribute free life jackets for children.

Whether you’re a year-round Lake Martin resident or planning your summer vacation, the Dadeville Boat Parade offers a quintessential Alabama lake experience that captures the community spirit and natural beauty that makes this area so special.
